Conserving marine life in the Perhentian Islands
Conserving marine life in the Perhentian Islands
“Becoming a host felt like the first step toward making a difference. It gave me both the platform and the responsibility to promote a better way of experiencing the island - one that respects the reef, the locals, and the ocean itself. For us, it all comes down to one simple principle: this reef is our home, and it’s our responsibility to protect it.”Hayati & Amer | The Resthouse in the Perhentian Islands

Exploring beyond Malaysia’s urban cities
“Travellers should experience another side of Malaysia, which is not just city or urban living. This park was dedicated by the Sultan of Selangor to serve as a sanctuary for wildlife and nature lovers and I am thankful to be able to host guests in such a unique environment.”Han | Templer Park Rainforest Retreat, Rawang
Honouring Malay heritage at Rumah Uda
Honouring Malay heritage at Rumah Uda
“I believe culture should be lived, not just displayed in museums. When guests step out of Rumah Uda, they’re stepping into the story of old Langkawi: a place where paddy fields stretch to the horizon, where people live in harmony with nature, and where every breeze carries a piece of our heritage. Saving homes like this keeps the island’s soul alive. Because when the houses are gone, the stories go with them.”Azmir | Rumah Uda, Langkawi

Building a future with hosting
“Most of what I earn from hosting goes straight into savings for my children. It’s not just income for us. I see it as security for their future.”Faiz | White Mi Casa, Selangor

Our impact in Malaysia
Since 2012, Airbnb has contributed significantly to Malaysia's economy where both hosts and guests have generated substantial benefits for local communities. In 2024, spending associated with Airbnb had the following estimated economic impact.

Be a responsible host and guest
Hosting and travelling responsibly begins with respect for people, neighbourhoods, and heritage. Learn how hosts and guests alike can support safe neighbourhoods and communities in Malaysia through our guides and resources.

Code of Conduct for hosts and guests
The Code of Conduct, developed in collaboration with the Malaysian Vacation Rental Services Management Association (MVR), sets clear expectations for hosts and guests to ensure safe, respectful, and responsible stays. From caring for neighbours and protecting heritage buildings to following local laws and safety standards, this shared guide helps keep Malaysia’s short-term rental community trusted, inclusive, and sustainable.

Banning disruptive parties
Airbnb’s global party ban, introduced in June 2022, prohibits disruptive parties and open-invite gatherings at all listings. Guests who attempt to violate this rule face strict consequences, including account suspension or permanent removal from the platform, ensuring safer, more respectful stays for all.
Enhanced reservation screening
Our enhanced reservation screening technology is designed to reduce the risk of disruptive incidents on our platform globally. The system helps assess and identify potential higher-risk reservations by looking at specific risk factors like user history and the timing of the booking.
Neighbourhood Support Line
In the rare case of noise disturbance, nuisance or any neighbourhood concern relating to home sharing in your strata, we have a dedicated 24/7 neighbourhood support line for anyone in the community to contact or report.
